Ford
and Climate Change
Below are
extracts of letters between the car manufacturer Ford and Peter Shullot about
climate change. The letters in full are at the bottom of the page. This is one
of 65 sets of letters so you can find out what your supermarket, energy supplier
and car manufacturer, and oil companies, airlines, house builders and other
companies really think about climate change. The name Peter Shullot is
made up – it is an anagram of The Polluters.
To Roelant de Waard,
Managing Director –
I have
driven Ford cars all my life. At present it’s the Galaxy. I like its smoothness,
its freshness and the fact I can get all the family in if I have to.
Why I’m writing is this fraud
about climate change. For
the government it is a ruse to raise taxes and divert attention from
under-investment in our roads.
If it really
wants to do something about so-called climate change it should ban vegetarians –
their farting does as much damage to the environment as any car.
Your founder
Henry Ford
didn’t say “Any colour – so long as it’s black,” only for it to be green.
I see that you’re
part of the Global Climate Coalition set up to deal with this mass deception.
Good work. It’s time we stood together to fight this loony propaganda. The
“environmentalists” have had it their way for too long. Let’s make them history,
like lynching and white cars.
Ford replied –
Firstly, we would like to thank you for your kind comments in relation to the
Galaxy, we pride ourselves in the design and production of all our vehicles and
are delighted to have such feed back.
Secondly, we can confirm that the Global Climate Coalition organisation referred
to in your letter was deactivated in 2002 according to the latest available
information.
