Honda and
Climate Change
Below are
extracts of letters between the car manufacturer Honda and Peter Shullot about
climate change. The letters in full are at the bottom of the page. This is one
of 65 sets of letters so you can find out what your supermarket, energy supplier
and car manufacturer, and oil companies, airlines, house builders and other
companies really think about climate change. The name Peter Shullot is
made up – it is an anagram of The Polluters.
To
Kenneth Keir, Managing Director –
I have driven Honda cars all my life. My current vehicle of choice is the Honda
CR-V 4x4. It’s excellent at holding the road, has all the features I’d want and
everything is within reach. When I drive around one-handed I am the king of the
road. For a successful IT man such as me it’s just what I want. It truly is the
power of dreams. Even my daughter Tracey – who is so uncommunicative that if I
want to talk to her I have to ring on her mobile – tells me that she likes it.
I’m looking to move on in life, sell up the company and find other pleasures.
I’ve had my share of wearing ill-fitting suits, playing golf and visiting strip
clubs. So as I look around I am increasingly concerned about “climate change”.
By this I don’t mean I believe in “climate change”, not at all, I think it’s a
fabrication. What I mean are the people who are using this thing called “climate
change” to hit successful businesses such as your own, and promote their own
manifesto. Now Greenham Common is closed and the Berlin Wall is down, the greens
need a new cause. “Climate change” – with its underlying agenda of anti-business
and pro-Marxism – provides it
Honda replied –
It is good to hear how pleased you and your daughter are with your CR-V. It is
great news for Honda that all generations are enjoying our vehicles.
There are many different arguments when it comes to climate change. Honda aim to
provide a range of products to suit a wide audience of customer needs and
requirements.
