Lufthansa
and Climate Change

Below are extracts of letters between
the airline company Lufthansa and Peter Shullot about climate change. The letters in full are at the bottom of the page. This is one of 65 sets of letters so you can find out what your supermarket, energy supplier and car manufacturer, and oil companies, airlines, house builders and other companies really think about climate change. The name Peter Shullot is made up – it is an anagram of The Polluters.

To
Dieter Grotepass, General Manager of Lufthansa UK –

Frankfurt airport is my home. Of course my real home is the one above – not Heathrow airport but 483 Green Lanes. Mrs Shullot says to me that I spend so much time travelling on your airline due to my international business interests that I must know the beds in Frankfurt airport’s hotels better than my own. Or perhaps she is trying to tell me something.

I don’t want to see all this thrown away by the EU’s ill-conceived plans to combat this thing called “climate change”.  Apparently Lufthansa said the aviation industry has received
€20bn in rescue aid from EU governments since 1991. Was that wise? Such statements are grist to the mill, by which I mean ammunition, to the mad greens who will jump on anything to twist to their own apolyptical claims about the end of the world as we know it. After all, they claim that global waming is responsible for all those people that collapse at the London Marathon. Nonsense! They just didn’t train hard enough.

Lufthansa replied –

Thank you for your letter outlining your concerns on carbon emissions and sharing your thoughts on climate change.

We value criticism from our customers, appreciating their honest and encouraging feedback, helping us to improve our service and customer relations.

Please accept The History of Lufthansa, with some corporate items, to show our appreciation for the interest you have shown in Lufthansa German Airlines.
