Musgrave Budgens Londis
and
Climate Change
Below are
extracts of letters between the supermarket company Musgrave Budgens Londis and
Peter Shullot about climate change. The letters in full are at the bottom of the
page. This is one of 65 sets of letters so you can find out what your
supermarket, energy supplier and car manufacturer, and oil companies, airlines,
house builders and other companies really think about climate change. The name
Peter Shullot is made up – it is an anagram of The Polluters.
To
Martin Hyson, Managing
Director –
For the second year running Budgens has been
awarded best fresh and chilled convenience retailer of the year. I know it is
fully deserved as the dear wife and I are regular customers at your nearby
store. You also run Londis. Well done for getting round the licensing
rules. By having small stores you are open all hours on a Sunday when your
bigger competitors have to shut up shop. It means Mrs Shullot can buy a loaf of
bread on Sunday evening for my Monday sandwiches.
Perhaps you could look at a similar device to avoid the rules being inflicted on
you because of climate change.
This is all the work of the greens in
Whitehall
and their fellow travellers in Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Climate Action,
the Green party, the Carbon Trust, the Energy Savings Trust, Earthwatch and the
Countryside Alliance. Now these groups have the humour of Maggie Thatcher (God
bless her) and the persuasiveness of the Chinese man who leads the Liberal
Democrats.

Musgrave Retail Partners GB prides itself on fresh foods totalling nearly 40% of
our turnover.
We are always looking for ways to support government initiatives but without it
impacting on the competitiveness of our prices.
